NOTE: Must reside in the City of Wilson within six months of hire. DESCRIPTION: Performs responsible professional and technical work in managing Wilson Energy’s engineering and system planning functions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Utilities. Supervision is exercised over subordinate staff. Applicant must have thorough knowledge of electrical transmission and distributions systems; engineering practices; lighting applications and performances; local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to utilities; and geography of the area served. Must have demonstrated skill in the use of computers and other office equipment; and have demonstrated the ability to analyze data; exercise sound judgment and problem solve; prioritize and organize work; communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must have also demonstrated the ability establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, utility suppliers, and the public; and supervise the work of subordinates. Applicant must have a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or other related field with major course work in electrical engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants possessing a P.E. License or EIT Certification will be preferred. Considerable supervisory and professional engineering experience; and a valid Drivers License are required. The City of Wilson, NC, population 50,000+ and growing, is a culturally diverse community ideally situated along I-95 and US 264, less than a 40 minute drive to the capital city of Raleigh, NC and 100 miles from NC’s Crystal Coast region.
