DESCRIPTION: Located at the foot of Mount Rainier and along the shores of Commencement Bay, Tacoma is recognized as a vibrant and progressive international city with a growing economy. With an annual budget of approximately $600 million and nearly 1,000 employees, the Public Works Department is the City’s largest department. Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, the Public Works Director ensures that the City has cost effective and reliable infrastructure, waste management services, and planning and building services by providing leadership, direction and guidance to the Public Works management team. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Public Administration or Business Administration, or closely related field, and 15 years of increasing responsibility in administrative and supervisory experience in Public Works.
