Attn: Rida Freeman, HR Analyst, 10601 Magnolia Avenue, Santee CA 92071 (rfreeman@ci.santee.ca.us)DESCRIPTION: The City of Santee is seeking a Fire Chief (at-will, executive management position) responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing the activities and operations of the Fire Department including: Administrative and Special Services, Fire and Life Safety Services / Loss Prevention, and Emergency Operations.
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification is qualifying i.e. a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in fire science, fire administration, business or public administration, or a related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in all major areas of a municipal fire department including three (3) years in management as a Division Chief or comparable level fire management position.
Applicants seriously considered for the position will be subject to a thorough background check including a criminal history investigation. A credit check may also be required prior to offer of employment. A waiver for reference and background information must be completed. Candidate will also be required to undergo a pre-employment physical including a drug screen before an employment offer is final.
