COMPENSATION: Salary: $2,292.36 to $2,789.00 per month (Range 35). Monthly salary based on a 40-hour work week, 8 hours per day. (Call for latest salary rates).

DESCRIPTION: Certificate(s) Required: An appropriate, valid California driver's license must be presented upon offer of employment and maintained throughout employment in this classification.

Experience: Experience working with adolescents is desirable.

Education/Training: High school graduation or the equivalent.

Certification of completion of Penal Code Section 832 Arrest Course is required within six months of employment. Candidates under consideration for employment will be subject to a thorough background investigation. Must pass a District medical examination after an offer of employment is made but before employment commences. Personal transportation for travel to sites where presence is required.

The EXAMINATION: Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be notified of the time and place of: (1) A written examination, which may include required-knowledge-and-abilities-of-This-position. WEIGHT: 100% - OR - (2) A written examination and oral examination. Each WEIGHT at: 50% - AND - (3) A Physical Agility test. WEIGHT: Pass/Fail.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS. Proof of required education in the form of copies of high school diploma, GED certificates, college degrees or transcripts (official or unofficial) must be submitted at time of examination. SBCUSD employees who have a copy of their proof of education in their official District personnel file need not resubmit copies of these documents.

SELECTION PROCESS. After a position closes, all applications are screened and qualifying applicants are invited for the testing process. An eligibility list is then compiled and valid for one year. As positions open, interviews will be set up according to the applicant's ranking on the eligibility list. For "Continuous" positions, applications are reviewed continuously until a suitable applicant pool is identified or the positions are filled, then the recruitment will be closed. Occasionally, final filing dates are changed to "Continuous" or extended when a larger applicant pool is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS. Fingerprinting is required of all successful candidates new to the District. If applicant accepts offer of employment, he/she must pay the Department of Justice fingerprinting fee of $32.00. The fee must be submitted at the time of fingerprinting. It is payable to the San Bernardino City Unified School District and must be paid by money order or cashier's check (no personal checks or cash accepted). Confidential references may be obtained from your former employers. Regular employees hired for four or more hours of work per day are required to belong and contribute to the Public Employees Retirement System. The federal Social Security program is a coordinated but separate part of the retirement system. Non U.S. citizens may apply if they have an Alien Registration Receipt Card Form I-151, or can otherwise prove their right to work under California Labor Code. Drug testing is required of all new employees.

TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS: The district will make every effort possible to ensure that all applicants compete on an equal level.
