DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Director of Housing and Community Development, the Assistant Director of Housing and Community Development is responsible for the development of the City's comprehensive business plan including data on business conditions; attraction and retention strategies and goals; neighborhood commercial development opportunities, international, national, and other marketing plans; strategies for securing private investment in economic development projects and development and analysis of financing proposals, loan, and grant programs and other methods to achieve the Business Plans goals.

It is the responsibility of the Assistant Director to monitor federal, state, and local housing, economic, and community development programs including CDBG, Section 108 Loan Guarantees, New Market Tax Credits, Home, HOPWA, and State Grant Initiatives, and the administration of grant projects. The incumbent will confer with non-profit and for profit organizations, financial institutions and neighborhood groups to identify goals and objectives for meeting economic and community housing needs and project feasibility and funding. The incumbent of this position assists the Director in the day to day operations of the department.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, economics, or related field, and five (5) years of economic & community development related management experience, or any equivalent combination of training & experience. One (1) year supervisor or managerial experience, required. A valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver's license within 30 days from day of employment.
